The Saratoga Youth Symphony was founded in 2012 by two dedicated musicians in New York’s Capital Region: Sue Nazzaro and Ellen Madison. The symphony orchestra was founded on the belief that great music should be available to all students and that the musicians of the orchestra should be able to share their love for music with each other, and within the community.
Under the leadership of Music Director Katie Gardiner, the SYS provides an orchestral experience for talented student musicians ages 18 and under. Members of the Youth Symphony represent more than two dozen schools throughout the Capital District. The SYS continues to build upon its reputation for musical excellence while maintaining its commitment to music education and community activities.
We are delighted to share with you the audition dates for the Saratoga Youth Symphony’s 2015-2016 season. Auditions will be held on Saturdays, June 13 and June 20 at the United Methodist Church in Saratoga Springs. All interested musicians, new or returning, must audition each season. Acceptance into the SYS is based solely on musical ability as demonstrated at the SYS’s annual June auditions. Audition results are sent to each applicant within three weeks after the auditions. To download the audition application, please visit the Auditions Page. The SYS will schedule your audition time after the application and fee have been received. For further audition information, please call Sue Nazzaro at 583-1128 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join us at the Universal Preservation Hall on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 7:00 pm for our spring performance. Music Director Katie Gardiner will be conducting the Saratoga Youth Symphony.
